First Fatality

The first fatality at the 2022 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally occured before the rally officially began.

Didn't make the curve

A 28-year old man died when his motorcycle went out-of-control while rounding a curve west of Lead. He was prounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is still investigating. Name of the biker being withheld until relatives are notified.
