Ruskies may have to ride Japanese bikes, if Japan companies are still in the Motherland
The iconic American motorcycle company has suspended shipments and business in Russia. Officials cited the Vladimir Putin's military invasion of the Ukraine as the cause.
Vladimir Putin has been photographed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. The authoritarian leader of Russia often cultivates a macho image to the Russian population. And he has cozied up to Russian motorcycle gangs or clubs, even cultivating them during his previous military invasion of Georgia to the south of Russia a few years ago.

The Russian component of the Harley Davidson business is small. The company has only 10 dealerships in the entire country. The European Union by contrast has 369 Harley dealerships. That is second only to the United States, which of course is the homeland of Harley Davidson.

There are Russian-made motorcycles. Some are even sold in the United States. But none with the cache even close to that of Harley Davidson.
Bike Week Exempted
- Bars can still stay open until 3 p.m. during Bike Week
- Daytona Beach leaves cash cow alone
The Daytona Beach City Commissioners are about to cut the hours that bars in the city can remain open. They would be required to close at 2 a.m., rather than 3 a.m.
Restriction Aimed Mainly at Spring-Breakers
Exempted are "special events." Which include Jeep Beach Week, Speed Weeks, Bike Week, Coke Zero, Biketoberfest and the Turkey Run.
Don't Mess with Cash Cow
Lots of money spent as the consumption of mass quanities of refreshing beverages skyrockets during Daytona Bike Week.
Spring Break for college students was not included in the special events, andin fact the powers-that-be especiallyt singled out the college students to NOT be exempted from the shorter bar hours.
50 Straight Daytona Bike Weeks

Denise Beaver, of Jacksonville, FL, will be attending her 50th straight Bike Week in Daytona in days.
First attended in 1972
When the Vietnam War was winding down, Richard Nixon was set to beat George McGovern in a presidential landslide election, and the biker culture was exploding after "Easy Rider" came out to a cult following three years earlier. With young Jack Nicholson, Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda.
