A
Less Traveled Route at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
You
can finish up the this Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Ride
by heading back to Rapid City on Sheridan Lake Road.
When you get to the lake, keep an eye out for a right-hand
turn if you are coming from Custer or Hill City. That
turn leads to the Sheridan Lake Marina, and to Sheridan
Lake Road.
Nice
Picnic Grounds at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
A
couple of nice Black Hills National Forest picnic
grounds lie on this route. They're on the right. Watch
for signs. As you finish up this Sturgis Motorcycle
Rally ride, those spots are nice places to stretch
the legs. Or chow down.
If you really wanted, you could even find a hole in
Spring Creek big enough to take dip. This water does
support trout, though, so it's cold enough to shrivel
up various body parts.
Logging
Roads at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
Along
Sheridan Lake Road and elsewhere in the Black Hills
National Forest you'll find old logging roads leading
off into the woods. Some of a Forest Service sign
on them and some don't.
Most haven't been used for awhile. Quite a few, though
not enough of them, are blocked off. You can explore
the open ones on your bike or on foot. And the closed
logging roads can of course be walked by foot. It's
one of those little side things that make an interesting
Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
